Coach Zerr, born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, grew up in a family of farmers where he developed a strong work ethic that would serve him well in his athletic career. He showcased his talent on the high school football field in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, earning a full-ride scholarship to play for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. During his collegiate career, he made an impressive mark by starting for Team Canada on the international stage and achieving the distinction of being a unanimous First Team All-Canadian at left tackle in his fourth year. After university, Zerr seized the opportunity to attend an NFL minicamp with the New York Giants, gaining valuable experience in a competitive environment. Following this stint, he was drafted 12th overall by the BC Lions in the 2022 CFL Draft, where he played for a season before signing with the Hamilton Tiger Cats in 2023. His journey continued when the Saskatchewan Roughriders recruited him in 2024, where he made an impact by starting six games at left guard, showcasing his skills and dedication on the field.
