Ryder Varga has quickly established himself as a standout linebacker and special teams ace for the BC Lions, showcasing a remarkable journey that began at Dr. Martin Leboldus High School in Regina. Excelling on the field as both a linebacker and running back, Varga balanced his athletic pursuits with academic success. This commitment carried over to his collegiate career at the University of Regina Rams, where he amassed impressive stats, including 160 total tackles, 7 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles, while also making pivotal contributions on special teams by analyzing opposing formations and aiding his teammates in making crucial plays. His exceptional understanding of the game caught the attention of CFL scouts, leading to a 3rd-round draft selection by the Lions. In his rookie season, Varga proved to be an indispensable player in the core special teams unit, recording 13 tackles, which earned him the coaching staff's trust and allowed his role to expand in his second year. Demonstrating remarkable consistency, he averaged over 10 tackles per game on defense, culminating in an impressive 79 total tackles for the season. Coach Varga's dedication to mastering the game and innovative film study techniques have not only set him apart but also rendered him a valuable mentor at Next Level Special Teams Academy, where he passionately guides the next generation of athletes.
